Buses to Trat depart from Bangkok‘s Eastern (Ekamai) and Northern (Moh Chit) Bus Terminals (5 hours). From Ekamai buses run frequently throughout the day with the evening bus schedule less frequent at 17:30, 19:00 and then an overnight bus at 24:00. 1st Class is around 240B and the Government run bus has nice 2nd class (air-con but no toilet) for 188B.

From Trat bus station, take a minibus direct to the Hat Lek border crossing – departures every 45 minutes between 06:00 and 18:00, takes between 1.5 and 2 hours, 120 baht.

If attempting to go to the border with Cambodia it is possible to take the overnight bus to Trat, arrive early in the morning and go straight out to the border by minivan(~120B) to cross over to Koh Kong for a morning bus to Sihanoukville or Phnom Penh.

Koh Kong is only 8km from the border with Thailand, and from there to Bangkok is only about a 4.5 hr drive.

There’s loads of touts hanging around pestering you for a ride into Koh Kong. Personally, I like to have a flutter at the tables so I just tell them I’m only going to the casino and they leave me alone.Non-guests pay 50 baht to use it and this comes with towels etc swimming pool .When you’re done, collect you bags and get the doorman to call you a motor bike to take you to Koh Kong. It will cost you 100 baht plus 11 baht toll way on the bridgeThe Dugout Hotel which is right in the main streetMy room with A/C cost 400 baht
